COMPRESSION SOCKS

To prevent vein problems

Graduated compression socks aim to reduce pressure in the superficial venous system.

These stockings exert greater pressure at the ankle than at the thigh, thus “pushing” the blood back upward in venous system. This helps slow the development of varicose and spider veins, and relieves symptoms such as fatigue, heaviness and inflammation. However, the stockings should not be used as a replacement for treatment.

Compression socks are key during sclerotherapy and Ultrasound Guided Sclerotherapy, as they improve the treatment and prevent blood clots.

EXERCISE IS AN EFFECTIVE WAY TO PREVENT VARICOSE AND SPIDER VEINS.

Any physical activity, but walking in particular, exercises the calf muscles. When these muscles contract, they compress the veins in the deep venous system and force the blood upwards.

Walking doubles the effectiveness of graduated compression socks.

Walking is essential after each varicose veins treatment.
