Discover microphlebectomy for treating varicose veins

Are you wondering if there’s a solution to get rid of your painful varicose veins? Microphlebectomy is a minimally invasive procedure that removes superficial varicose veins using a fine needle and a hook, through small incisions. Once the damaged vein is removed, both the aesthetic issues and physical symptoms disappear.

Without treatment, symptoms can worsen, leading to an increase in the number and size of varicose veins, with a risk of complications depending on the duration and progression of the condition. This technique eliminates the abnormal venous circuits formed by varicose veins, helping to slow the progression of the disease.

Microphlebectomy is the treatment of choice for larger visible varicose veins in the lower limbs, particularly those located on the feet, ankles, and behind the knee. It is often more effective than sclerotherapy and leaves fewer unsightly scars compared to saphenectomy (stripping). With this treatment, you no longer have to live with the discomfort or pain caused by these unsightly veins.

How does a microphlebectomy treatment work?

First, an initial consultation is conducted to assess your health, discuss symptoms, and review your medical history. A diagnostic ultrasound examination of the legs is performed to evaluate the varicose veins.

During the treatment, the varicose veins are marked while the patient is standing to identify the areas to be treated. To ensure your comfort, a local anesthetic is injected along the vein. Micro-incisions are then made in the skin, through which a microphlebectomy hook is inserted. This hook is used to gently grasp and remove the varicose veins. Microphlebectomy does not require sutures, and the scars are barely visible.

At the end of the procedure, a compressive dressing and compression stockings are applied to promote healing and reduce discomfort. In general, the results are immediate, and most patients resume their daily activities after the treatment.
