Hyaluronic acid

Hyaluronic acid is a natural substance, found in human tissues, that gives the skin its volume and healthy appearance. One of its main functions is to carry water and retain it in the cells. In cosmetic dermatology, hyaluronic acid is used as an implant and comes in the form of a gel whose concentration and density may vary. The gel is injected into the tissue to eliminate fine lines, to fill in deep lines (folds), to increase the volume of the lips and to shape the face’s contours, particularly the chin and cheekbones.

TREATED AREAS

The effect of hyaluronic acid, although it is not permanent, can last between 8 and 24 months, depending on the type of treatment and the product used. When treatment is stopped, the body slowly reabsorbs the residual product, and the skin gradually returns to its original condition. A treatment session lasts about 30 minutes, and no prior testing is required. Significant improvement can be expected after one treatment. At times, touch ups may be necessary. Different products can be found on the market, including: Juvederm, Restylane, Teosyal, etc.

Before obtaining a cosmetic treatment, it is important to schedule a consultation during which you can openly discuss your goals and expectations with a physician. The physician will evaluate your treatment options, the required amount of visits, as well as the risks and benefits associated with each procedure. As every individual patient reacts differently to treatments, the information within this site and the client photos are strictly for reference purposes only and in no way constitute a promise of results.

Frequently asked questions

What is a hyaluronic acid? With aging, wrinkles appear in certain areas of the face. Hyaluronic acid is a filler substance that is injected into wrinkles or other depressed surfaces in order to restore volume on the treated area, to fill folds, fine lines and lip contour, and to remodel facial contours (cheekbones, chin).

How long does hyaluronic acid last? Result last between 8 and 24 months.

Is there a risk of allergic reaction with hyaluronic acid? Some people are sensitive to bovine collagen implants, which is why this substance is no longer used. Hyaluronic acid presents a negligible risk of allergic reaction, and its results are more impressive.
